Monika Ludwiczak of Everlasting Brows, of London, announced as national award finalist

London, 25 October 2021: Nineteen extraordinary women from across the country have today been unveiled as the 2021 finalists in the UK’s leading programme for female entrepreneurs, the NatWest everywoman Awards. Selected from nearly 1,000 entries, the finalists’ stories tell of success in the face of adversity and demonstrate that even they are not immune to the challenges of the past 18 months.

A self-confessed rebel, Polish born Monika studied clinical psychology to please her parents, but was drawn to the beauty industry after graduation. Alarmed by the unethical and unsafe practises that she came across, Monika created a superior product, launching initially in the US. Finding a passion for teaching, her breakthrough came with the creation of her formula to enhance the eye area, alleviating the need for surgery. She took her technique international to North America and Asia and it was in Hong Kong that she saw the potential of new techniques and products in microblading (permanent make up)...

Latest pigment and ink requirements and how you are already affected. 

Permanent make up & tattoo industry pigments are under scrutiny and there’s a huge revamp happening in order to get all of the current pigments compliant. No matter who is your pigment manufacturer, brand you trust, country of origin, pigment colours and tones you use - everyone is affected as a list of 4000 hazardous substances are banned or restricted. Don’t be quick to think this is something you do not need to worry about, don’t be complacent. Ignoring these could mean your insurance is voided in case of a claim, your salon may be fined and most importantly, you’re not making the most ethical & safe decision for your clients. 

KNOW YOUR PIGMENT INGREDIENTS - WHAT IS GOING INSIDE OUR SKIN

Educating yourself as a semi permanent makeup artist or a client is really important. Microblading and shading pigments into the skin is a trend and big business that is here to stay… of course we all want to get the right colour, but WHAT is actually in the colours being put in the skin for longterm results, and how do I know what is right for me and safe for my clients?

There are a number of regulating bodies around the world. The FDA does not regulate any inks or pigments. There are administrations that do - but its always good to know for YOURSELF what is in your microblading or semi permanent makeup line.

One of the most rewarding things in the beauty industry, is making a difference, and although it is satisfying to perform a beautiful service on  clients and create an immediate improvement, it is even more fulfilling when that change is absolutely imperative to someone's confidence and wellbeing.

Such is a story of our case study with Gerogina, a client that sought our permanent make up expertise and help correcting previous eyebrow work done by another artist. Anyone in the PMU industry will know, that correction work presents various challenges such as; difficulties covering undesirable pigment shades or asymmetrical shapes that may be impossible to rectify completely. Many artists often refuse to take on such clients, due to the high pressure that dealing with complicated cases creates. Such challenging clients can often put a strain on the artists skills, tools and knowledge, not to mention their reputation if such cases are not dealt with properly. Rightly so, majority of correction work is not for light hearted and especially when accompanied by alopecia universalis.
